H2Ohm – Hydrogen Research at the Ohm

Climate change and increasing energy demand are transforming the world. To address these problems, hydrogen as an energy carrier can offer a promising contribution. Electricity from renewable energy sources can be converted into hydrogen, stored, and used for other applications. The researchers at H2Ohm are focusing on the further development of materials and methods to make the use of hydrogen as fuel for trucks, as a feedstock for chemical products, and for heat generation in buildings more attractive.

For powering trucks, for example, a large assembly of many fuel cells is needed. The researchers at H2Ohm are asking: Why do large fuel cells age during a long truck journey? How can the aging of fuel cells be prevented? What needs to be done to make fuel cells more robust and efficient?
