The Levant through the Maps

Maps are always interesting to look at and some are beautiful and have their own artistic merit.  They also tell a story, and if we look at them properly, we can hear them speak.  They narrate a story, a political or a cultural or an economic story. The evolving map of the Levant (Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria) has many stories to tell, with a complex story to tell in the modern era.

In this presentation, we will take a visual trip in the history of the Levant. Looking through the maps, we will visit at the different geographical categories that were applied to this region of the world.  We will start from the Roman Empire, then go to the birth of the Islamic Caliphate and the Islamic dynasties and end with the various maps that were applied to the region today.
